What you need to know:

As a Manager and Leader, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee employees, programs and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk management mindset.

As a manager within General Insurance Casualty Claims - Casualty Specialty, you will be responsible for managing a team of claims adjusters for the Unit within Casualty Specialty. This Unit manages all construction defect claims as well as abuse and molestation/reviver claims, typically on primary GL and Excess policies, and ensures consistency and quality with respect to these claim types. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Casualty Specialty.

What you need to know

• Ensure timely reserving and appropriate legal and indemnity payouts within projections within your claims team

• Oversee and control loss adjustment expense, including appropriate litigation management direction and implementation of consistent and creative litigation strategies and control of legal and other associated claims adjusting costs

• Review and manage claim pendings of your team to achieve appropriate, timely claim milestones (analysis) and resolutions

• Manage and develop claims adjusters to maximize their ability to proactively investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims

• Prioritize and ensure effective communication between your team and AIG insureds and brokerage clients

• Empower and lead claims adjusters within your team by communicating clear, concise goals that are in line with those of senior management

• Identify and escalate claims to senior management with significant coverage, loss, or other issues quickly and effectively

• Participate and support in departmental initiatives focusing on improved claim processes, claims results and financial results

• Lead training and development initiatives within the Unit that promote not only best practices but educate and instruct claims adjusters on trends and emerging issues

• Communicate with other departments within Casualty claims and to the extent appropriate other claims group on large interdepartmental losses or claims with emerging issues

• Clearly communicate with actuarial on relevant claims, case law, and other trend information, both informally or formally

• Collaborate with and support underwriting by attending and participating in client renewal and new business meetings as requested, providing feedback on relevant endorsements and policy forms, and by understanding and communicating data trends within your team that may impact underwriting decisions

What we're looking for

• Minimum five plus years of complex casualty claims adjusting, or other relevant litigation experience

• Demonstrated experience with evaluations and investigations addressing coverage, liability and damage issues

• Strong communication skills and ability to prepare and present information in a concise and persuasive manner

• Drive collaborative behavior with leadership team across the wider business

• Ability to come up with creative solutions to difficult problems across many different business partners
